You have to admit that West Ham have shown some much-needed ambition in discarding David Moyes.

The Scot did a decent job in his six months at the London Stadium, helping The Hammers finish the 2017/18 season comfortably in mid-table after flirting with relegation under Slaven Bilic. But it always seemed unlikely that Moyes was the man to usher in this exciting new era the fans are pining for, never mind bring back a return to the so-called ‘West Ham way’.

But it appears that, for all West Ham’s best efforts, one of their top managerial replacements isn’t keen on the job.

The Telegraph stated on Tuesday that the coveted Shakthar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca had travelled to London with his agent Jorge Mendes and had an interview with West Ham co-owner David Sullivan.

Fonseca is one of Europe’s most exciting young coaches. Just last season, he led Shakhtar to the domestic treble and the Champions League knock-out phase while playing some of the finest football on the continent.

But ESPN have now claimed that he is set to snub the chance to take over at West Ham and instead sign a new deal with Shakhtar.

It is understood that The Hammers are now hoping to lure Rafa Benitez or Manuel Pellegrino to the English capital – but what are the chances that they will give Sullivan the same answer as Fonseca?
