Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has confirmed he will return to Parkhead this summer after an excellent season on loan with Aberdeen, but could not help teasing Rangers fans on Instagram.

Christie, 22, has enjoyed a superb campaign with Derek McInnes' side, as he helped the Dons finish second in the Scottish Premiership table above Celtic's Old Firm rivals Rangers who have had to make do with third.

Ryan Christie is seen during a training session prior to the International Friendly match between Scotland and Costa Rica at Orium Sports Centr on March 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The attacking midfielder scored eight goals and laid on a huge 15 assists during his 42 league and cup encounters, but his future remains unclear with only a year left to run on his Celtic deal under Brendan Rodgers.

With the summer transfer window closing in, Christie posted a farewell message to Aberdeen fans as he returned to Celtic before cheekily composing "Oh and... second place again" followed by a 'shush' emoji.

Celtic boast an abundance of playmakers, including the likes of Callum McGregor, Stuart Armstrong, Tom Rogic and loanee Charly Musonda - though the latter could be set to return to Chelsea just six months into an 18-month loan.

Christie may have to look for a move elsewhere, then, with the possibility of game time looking faint. Celtic icon Frank McAvennie has urged him to complete a permanent move to Pittodrie when speaking to Simon Ferry earlier this month.
