Peterborough rested Marriott on the last day of the season, to ensure he did not get injured, and Leeds fans are now hoping that Paul Heckingbottom makes a move for the striker.

Leeds are thought to be looking for a new front man, and MacAnthony admits he would be surprised if Marriott wasn’t on the Whites’ radar.

Marriott is unlikely to come cheap, as the young forward is one of the most in-demand strikers in England.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Posh would demand at least £5 million for the former Luton man, and it remains to be seen whether Leeds would pay that sort of money.

Leeds’ top scorer this season was Kemar Roofe, who netted on 14 occasions.
