Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is one of the names that Chelsea are keen on as they consider Antonio Conte’s successor.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Chelsea will continue to monitor Mauricio Pochettino’s situation at Tottenham as they consider potential replacements for Antonio Conte who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

There appears to have been speculation surrounding Conte’s future for several months now despite the fact that he was the last manager to get his hands on the Premier League trophy, and could finish this campaign with an FA Cup medal.

The Telegraph reports however, that he is looking set to move on this summer and Pochettino is amongst the names that is being considered by the Blues – though Roman Abramovich is wary of approaching a heavyweight manager already in a job given that Conte could cost Chelsea £9 million if he does not find another job straight away.

Spurs fans seemingly need not worry too much however, as The Telegraph adds that the chances of Pochettino heading across the city look incredibly slim at this stage and Daniel Levy is keen to get the Argentinian to agree a new contract with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

It is little surprise that Pochettino is a wanted man given that he has helped elevate Tottenham into a heavyweight of the domestic game, and they appear to be well on their way to securing similar status on the continental front also, having reached the knockout stages of the Champions League this season.

And given that uncertainty never seems to leave a Chelsea boss once he is through the door, it is difficult to see why he would give the opportunity much thought at all if he feels that Spurs still have the potential to push further in the coming years.

It is perhaps up to Levy therefore, to ensure that the former Southampton boss has little reason to believe that there is any need to consider the potential interest coming from elsewhere.
