Declan Rice put in a superb performance for West Ham in their clash with Stoke City which had fans comparing him to Sir Bobby Moore.

The 19-year-old was making his 10th Premier League start of the season for the Hammers and already looks assured at the top level.

What was so striking was his confidence in possession and ability to keep the ball and pick out a pass, when so many centre-backs would rather just 'hoof it'.

West Ham defender Declan Rice reacts during the Carabao Cup Fourth Round match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United at Wembley Stadium on October 25, 2017 in London, England.

The goal Stoke City scored in the 1-1 draw was nothing to do with Rice, with Joe Hart failing to hold the ball played into him.

Rice is proving he deserves to be a regular starter and did not need a loan spell to prove himself first.

West Ham are reaping the benefits of throwing him in, and manager David Moyes deserves credit for continuing to show faith in the youngster.

Fans were raving about Rice's performance last night, commenting how he is a natural in defence and appears to be even better than Manchester City's John Stones.

Here is a look at the reaction to Rice's display...
