West Ham cult-hero Carlton Cole took to Twitter to heap praise on Andy Carroll after the striker scored a stunning equaliser in stoppage-time during the Hammers' crucial Premier League clash with Stoke City on Monday.

After picking up four points from their previous two games, it appeared that David Moyes' men were in a superb position to ensure that they would be playing top flight football again next season. And it looked as though the Irons were going to make it seven points from a possible nine as they controlled much of the game against Paul Lambert's side.

West Ham had the ball in the net on two occasions when the game was goalless. However, both were rightly ruled out for offside. Stoke striker Peter Crouch would then score the game's opening goal with 12 minutes to go.

As the contest reached added-time, it appeared that the Potters were about to pick up a huge win that would have lifted them to within three points of safety and four points of their opponents.

However, Carroll - who earns £90,000-a-week at the London Stadium, according to Spotrac - ensured that the points would be shared and the Irons would extend the daylight between themselves and the bottom three. It was a superb finish from the striker who, for all the criticism that he takes, does manage to produce some stunning goals.

And after the contest, Cole took to social media to laud the 29-year-old's impact after being brought on in the latter stages.

With a tough run of fixtures to finish the campaign, having that seven point advantage over the bottom three could be huge for Moyes' men as the Hammers will do incredibly well to avoid any nervy moments during the coming weeks.
