Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Jay Rodriguez twice before, and several Spurs fans would like to see the interest reignited.

Several Tottenham fans have taken to social media in the wake of West Brom's surprise win on Sunday to urge Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to reignite his interest in Jay Rodriguez at the end of the season.

The Telegraph reported in October 2014 that Pochettino wanted to bring the forward to White Hart Lane, while the Daily Mail suggested in January 2017 that an enquiry had been made regarding the forward's availability.

On both occasions, Spurs would not end up landing the 28-year-old. He would leave Southampton last summer however, joining the Baggies in a £12 million deal - fee reported by the Daily Mail.

While the Saints' situation may leave the forward glad he moved on - especially given the peripheral role that he played at St Mary's last season - he may be regretting the decision to move to The Hawthorns somewhat with West Brom in an even worse situation.

Darren Moore's side's relegation still appears to be inevitable, but they have given themselves just a glimmer of hope after picking up a stunning win at Old Trafford to end Manchester United's own slim hopes of catching their neighbours at the top of the table - and it was Rodriguez who scored the winner as he reacted quickest as a set-piece went up for grabs during the second-half.

The goal was Rodriguez's seventh in the league this season and his third in four games. It is a perfectly-timed run of form that will surely encourage summer bids if the Baggies are unable to pull off the most ridiculous of escapes. And for some Tottenham fans, his display against Jose Mourinho's side highlighted why Pochettino should consider moving for the striker for a third time.
