Liverpool are enjoying a remarkable 2018, and will now harbour hopes of challenging Manchester City next season – with the aid of new signings.

The Reds have dropped just 10 points in the Premier League since the turn of the year, and have also advanced into the last four of the Champions League with an impressive win over Manchester City.

Manager Jurgen Klopp now appears to be driving Liverpool on to become a legitimate force again, and with Naby Keita on his way to Anfield this summer, more signings could be targeted.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have today reported that Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, with Atletico Madrid and Napoli also thought to be keen.

The 28-year-old stopper joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2016, but has spent most of his time in Catalunya backing up Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, failing to start a league game this season and playing just the once in the Champions League this term.

It's believed that Cillessen could target first-team football elsewhere, and given question marks over Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, Liverpool are being linked – but their fans aren't too keen.

Whilst one Reds fan noted that Cillessen is the best no. 2 goalkeeper in the world, most other supporters don't feel that the Dutchman is needed, and would prefer to stick with in-form Karius.

Barcelona fans also offered their views, with many hailing Cillessen and suggesting that he is 'world class' and deserves to start for a team somewhere, suggesting they don't really want to see him leave but understand if he wants to move on.
