Andy Walker was critical of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’s decision to take off Tom Rogic during the Old Firm derby against Rangers at the weekend while commentating on the match for Sky Sports Football (Sunday, April 15, 2018).
Rogic featured for Celtic against Rangers in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup at Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder started the tie and played for 60 minutes, as Rodgers’s side won 4-0.
The Australia international played well for the Hoops and scored midway through the first half, and former Celtic striker Walker - who now works as a pundit and commentator for Sky Sports - was disappointed with manager Rodgers’s decision to take off Rogic after an hour.
Walker said when Rogic was being substituted on the hour mark while he was commentating on the match for Sky Sports Football (Sunday, April 15, 2018): “I think it is a bit disappointing for Rogic.”
“He can play 90 minutes, he is rarely given the opportunity,” added Walker about Rogic. “I think he has been outstanding this afternoon.”
Rogic is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and is playing well for Celtic at the moment.
The Australia international has scored four goals and provided four assists in 17 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Glasgow giants so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Celtic look set to win the treble for the second season in a row in Scotland.
