It has been reported that Everton had scout Martyn Glover watch Fabra in action for Boca in Argentina last week.

The British tabloid has also claimed that the Toffees watched the 27-year-old left-back during Colombia’s friendly international match against France last month.

According to The Sun, Boca would want about £7.5 million as transfer fee in order to part company with Fabra in the summer transfer window.

Bargain signing?

Fabra has not played in Europe in his professional club football career so far, and there would be an element of risk involved in signing him.

However, for a transfer fee of £7.5m, it would be a bargain for Everton, even if the left-back struggled to make an impact in the Premier League.

Leighton Baines is still going strong, but the England international, who earns £70,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, is 33 years of age, and Everton do need to find a long-term successor.
