Aston Villa fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Conor Hourihane against Norwich City.
Hourihane featured for Villa in the Championship game against Norwich away from home at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Steve Bruce's side lost 3-1.
Villa fans were not impressed with the performance of the Republic of Ireland international midfielder and have criticised the former Plymouth Argyle midfielder on Twitter.
Where was Conor Hourihane today does anyone know? Goes hiding every 4 out of 5 games. Not that anyone was spectacular today, but Hourihane was a certain 3/10. Pick it up man. #AVFC— STEP 2 KELLY (@VivaEvanKelly) April 7, 2018
No disrespect to Bjarnason I like the lad & fair play to him but a player who's abilities are over egged due to how woeful our CM options have been bar the odd showing or two, Hourihane another, goals have masked his lack of impact in there. #avfc— Roger. W (@RogerW42) April 7, 2018
JT, Chester, Elmo, Hourihane & Snoddy are just too slow. You can add Lansbury, Jedi & Whelan to that list. Lots of experience but no legs. We always come unstuck against teams with pacey midfields. Need to mix some youth in with the older heads #AVFC— michael pickering (@pickering_mick) April 7, 2018
This is why it appears you don't get it though, lots of players have been criticised today so thats not scapegoating! It's pointing out players who have been awful today! Taylor was awful, Adomah was awful, Hourihane was terrible. It's not just one player!— Chris (@DagAVFC333) April 7, 2018
Bet Hourihane’s passing stats will be off the scale today. Sideways to Terry and Chester all feckin game. And there are 10 others as culpable I know #avfc— David Summers (@davidsummers64) April 7, 2018
I know Bruce doesn’t trust anyone under the age of 22 to play unless the cupboard is completely bare but I can’t truthfully see what Taylor offers that wouldn’t be better given by game time to Bree or Clark #avfc Adomah, Taylor & Hourihane passengers thus far— Gareth Edwards (@garethedwards74) April 7, 2018
Hourihane has been on the books of Villa since January 2017 when he joined from Barnsley for a transfer fee reported by The Irish Examiner to be worth £3 million.
The former Sunderland prospect has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 36 Championship starts for Villa so far this season.
During the second half of the 2016-17 campaign, the 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international scored one goal and provided three assists in 13 league starts for the Villans.
