Good move

Alderweireld is one of the best defenders in the world, and although the Belgium international has had injury concerns this season and has been able to make only 10 appearances in the Premier League in 2017-18 according to WhoScored, there is no doubt over his quality.

Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window, and recruiting Alderweireld in the summer of 2018 would make the Reds instant Premier League title challengers for the 2018-19 campaign.

Unlikely

However, it is unlikely that Liverpool will be willing to sign the 29-year-old, if indeed they make a move for the Spurs star in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are unlikely to sell Alderweireld in the summer, especially to a direct rival for the Premier League title.
