Celtic's youth team were on the end of a heavy defeat from Falkirk, as the young Hoops lost 4-1 at Lennoxtown on Tuesday.
Falkirk currently sit 10th in the table, two places behind the young Hoops, who have five games in hand over the Bairns.
One thing remained consistent, however, and that was the performances of both Ewan Henderson and Jack Aitchison.
Celtic can take some consolation in the fact that Aitchison scored yet again, continuing to build on his strong scoring form this season. However, a 4-1 loss is uncharacteristic and the young Hoops will be looking to bounce back against Kilmarnock, who they also lost to last time the two sides met.
The Hoops boasted a strong starting line-up against Falkirk, with the likes of Henderson, Aitchison and right-back Anthony Ralston all featuring.
Henderson was denied by the post in the 77th after his curling free-kick went just wide, on a day where it was simply not going the way of the Celts. However, despite suffering a sizeable loss, both Henderson and Aitchison looked promising.
The young duo have been continually pushing for some first-team exposure and, with the league pretty much wrapped up after Celtic's victory over Rangers on Sunday, Brendan Rodgers may begin to make most of the opportunity and trial some youngsters.
