Crystal Palace could really do with Christian Benteke fit and firing right now.

But the Belgian battering ram who scored 17 goals to inspire The Eagles to survival last season has been a shadow of his former self under Roy Hodgson in his second campaign at Selhurst Park.

Benteke has a miserable two goals in 24 Premier League appearences this season. And, if the Sun is to be believed, his time at the London club could be coming to an end.

It is reported that the former Aston Villa and Liverpool striker wants to leave at the end of the season, and likes the idea of earning a big contract in the Far East.

The Sun adds that Crystal Palace would be happy to sell Benteke to China - provided they make around £20 million for a player they signed for £27 million as recently as the summer of 2016.

Considering just how badly the 27-year-old has flopped this season, it should be no surprise that Palace are willing to cash in regardless of a potentially substantial loss.

Christian Benteke of Crystal Palace looks on during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium on January 20, 2018 in London, England.

The Sun claims that Crystal Palace, who boast only Benteke and January signing Alexander Sorloth as genuine centre-forwards, are keen to bring in a couple of new forwards in the summer transfer window.

And getting the £90,000 a week Benteke off the wage bill would go some way to financing new additions, regardless of which division Crystal Palace find themselves in.
