Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has told Get West London that he thinks Aleksandar Mitrovic is a 'quality player' after his two-goal display against Sheffield United.
Jokanovic's men were looking to keep that unbeaten run going on Tuesday, and got just what they wanted with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Sheffield United at Craven Cottage.
Fulham opened the scoring in the first half when Ryan Fredericks' cross found Aleksandar Mitrovic in front of goal and he simply couldn't miss, before the Serbian striker added his and Fulham's second by nonchalantly flicking Stefan Johansen's cross into the net.
Fulham wrapped a 3-0 win and all three points when Tom Cairney swept home the third of the game, as Fulham continue their stunning form, and may have one eye on an automatic promotion spot.
Fulham have spent plenty of time searching for a striker under Jokanovic, and his fellow Serbian Mitrovic appears to be filling that role perfectly, as he has taken his tally to five goals in his last four games.
The 23-year-old hitman had been frozen out at Newcastle before making a deadline day loan move to Fulham, and he has been hailed by his new boss Jokanovic as he continues to prove Newcastle's Rafael Benitez wrong for not giving him playing time.
Jokanovic has told Get West London that he thinsk Mitrovic is a quality player, and he is not only offering a goal threat and great hold-up play in attack, but also helps defending set pieces, labelling him a 'great signing'.
“Yeah, why not?” said Jokanovic when asked whether he expected Mitrovic to make such an instant impact.. “He's a quality player, he showed well with us and at the end he's a proper striker, what we were looking for a long period. At the end, he scored two goals, he made a great job for us, he protected and held many balls and working well in around the goal.”
“We have one weapon more in offensive set pieces, and from another side he can help us in the defensive set pieces too. At the end, what I said before, he's a great signing for us and he started well, now he has adapted himself and I believe he is enjoying the rest of the team and we expect he can be better in the games ahead of us,” he added.
