Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said on the Premier League Tonight show on BT Sport 1 last Saturday evening (8:24pm, March 3, 2018) that Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez would be a good managerial appointment for Everton.

Benitez is currently in charge of Premier League club Newcastle, who are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea boss is a Liverpool legend, having guided the Reds to Champions League glory back in 2005.

The Spaniard was linked with Everton back in October 2017 when The Sun claimed that he had rejected the chance to replace Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.

Liverpool legend Gerrard worked with Benitez at Anfield, and although the former England international midfielder believes that the ex-Real Madrid boss will be good for Everton, he does not want him to take charge of the Toffees.

Gerrard said about Benitez and Everton on the Premier League Tonight show on BT Sport 1 last Saturday evening (8:24pm, March 3, 2018): “He would be good for them.

“Would I like to see it? No, because I think if you have served Liverpool as Rafa has, I don’t think you should go across the park and work for Everton, and vice-versa.”

Rafael Benitez Manager

Unlikely

Benitez is one of the best managers in the world, and the Spaniard will be massive upgrade on Sam Allardyce at Everton.

However, given the former Valencia manager’s history with Liverpool, it is unlikely that he will be interested in becoming the Everton boss.
