West Ham United co-owner David Gold has sent a message to the club’s fans over money as tensions boil over.

West Ham have been dragged back into the thick of the relegation battle after back-to-back 4-1 defeats to Liverpool and Swansea City.
The Hammers are in very real danger of being relegated despite turning things around under David Moyes.
It has all been happening against the backdrop of West Ham fans preparing to march in protest against the club’s co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady over the way the club is being run.
Supporters are unhappy over broken promises since the club’s move from their beloved Boleyn Ground home to the London Stadium, chiefly their failure to spend big in the transfer market and deliver a stadium truly fit for football.

Some fan groups have this week announced they were calling off the planned march before the next game against Burnley. But that has caused further division among supporters with thousands insisting they would still carry out the protest.
Tensions boiled over after the dreadful performance at Swansea where supporters battled the equally poor weather to make the trip to Wales to cheer on their underperforming team.

Stuck in traffic on the way home after the game Gold was taking flak from some fans and got out of his car to explain he was in just as much pain as them, being a lifelong fan himself.
And the 82-year-old had already taken to Twitter on Saturday to highlight his allegiance by claiming he hasn’t taken a penny out of West Ham since taking over with Sullivan in 2010.
“For the record I’ve not received a salary or a dividend since I’ve been at the club,” Gold said on Twitter.
