Fulham supporters have taken to social networking site Twitter in order to rave about Southampton’s Matt Targett following another impressive performance while on loan at Craven Cottage.
The talented left-back joined Fulham on loan in January, and his inclusion in the starting XI has coincided with a fabulous run of form which has seen the West London club propel themselves up the Championship table.
Fulham found themselves as low as 17th in the table at one point, yet seven victories in their last nine games now sees them sitting in the playoffs with hopes of catching Cardiff City in second spot.
Despite a tough run of games, Slavisa Jokanovic’s men have taken seven points from their last three fixtures – Aston Villa (H), Bristol City (A) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (H).
Ryan Sessegnon is showing why he is the most talented youngster outside the Premier League, but the 17-year-old’s success in the final third is largely due to the cover provided by Targett.
The 22-year-old has been superb at left-back, and his latest performance in the victory over league leaders Wolves has seen him named among the Championship’s best for the weekend.

As per the table provided by Opta, Targett contributed with an impressive three tackles, four effective clearances, five ball recoveries and a whopping nine duels won over the course of the 90 minutes.
Taking to social media site Twitter, many Fulham supporters believe they would be currently in the top two had Targett been with them from the beginning of the season and current form suggests they have a point.
Fredericks tackle and Targett turn, this is champagne stuff from Fulham— Ryan O'Donovan (@R_O_Donovan) February 24, 2018
If we had Targett in the summer, we would of been second for sure by now— Fulham traveller (@stevenffc123) February 24, 2018
Targett and mitrovic have massively improved Fulham’s starting XI as results and performances are showing. Slavs rant about lack of transfers at start of January completely justified.— Tom (@tomtomkdkd) February 25, 2018
That was finally the Fulham of last season. Except with Sessegnon at this level playing further forward because of Targett, and the presence of Mitrovic, they look even more competitive— Tom Barclay (@TomBarclay_) February 24, 2018
Seriously impressive win from Fulham in a far from peak performance. Targett, Fredericks and especially Ream, solid throughout. Sessegnon and Mitrovic showed individual talent.— Rhys Daly (@RhysDalySport) February 24, 2018
Credit where it's due: Mitrovic, Targett and Christie have been fantastic January signings. Have all played their part + improved the side significantly. #ffc— Sönke Gorgos (@kingscrossed) February 25, 2018
