Anthony Ralston claimed earlier this week that he is ready to be called upon when Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers needs him.
The 19-year-old right-back has been missing since September due to a knee injury but he appears to be fit again, after playing for the youth side last week.
With Nir Bitton ruled out for the season, it remains to be seen who Rodgers chooses to be Mikael Lustig's understudy at right-back, but ignoring Cristian Gamboa for Ralston could be seen as an insult.
Gamboa, a £1 million signing in August 2016, hasn't kicked a ball for Celtic since the 3-0 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich in October and he could be forgiven for thinking his chance is coming.
Lustig has been a bit of a disaster in recent weeks and months it wouldn't have been a huge shock had Rodgers dropped the Swede for his Costa Rican team-mate at one point.
But if the Hoops boss overlooks Gamboa and indicates that Ralston is now his second-choice right-back behind Lustig then it would speak volumes over what he thinks of the former West Brom man.
