The Nigerian midfielder has been in good form for Leicester City this season.

Liverpool have recently been linked with the signature of Leicester City midfield dynamo Wilfred Ndidi.

Liverpool look like losing Emre Can in the summer, which leaves them short of defensive-minded midfield options.

That has seen them linked with a number of players, including the Leicester midfielder. The Mirror have reported he could be worth up to £50 million and one man who thinks it would be a good deal is former Nigeria international Etim Esim.

The 51-year-old former Super Eagle spent much of his time as a player in Belgium, where Ndidi first earned his reputation at Genk.

Speaking to Sport Lineng, he had this to say regarding Ndidi’s potential move:

“This is going to be a fantastic move for him and I think his transfer fee is likely going to go up because it could happen shortly after the World Cup.

“Ndidi has been doing well at Leicester; he is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the EPL now and should command that kind of transfer.

“I don’t think he will struggle at Liverpool, he is a player made for big club like that and with the role he plays, there is no way he will be sitting on the bench there...I see Ndidi walking straight into that Liverpool’s side.”

Liverpool are right to target a more defensive-minded midfield option and Ndidi is certainly a strong target.

At only 21-years-old he has really stepped up to the plate this season and Liverpool would certainly be better off, and in particular better balanced, with Ndidi in the first-team picture.

Now only time will tell if Esim gets his wish and sees Ndidi lining up at Anfield in the near future.
