Celtic face Zenit St. Petersburg in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 clash on Thursday night.
Brendan Rodgers has a huge decision to make regarding his starting line-up against Zenit St. Petersburg on Thursday night as a number of defenders are sidelined for the Round of 32 clash - and fans want Jack Hendry to start.
Celtic will be without Belgium international Dedryck Boyata while Marvin Compper is not expected to return to full fitness in time to face the Russian giants, as he is yet to overcome a calf injury and make his Hoops debut.
Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic started against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup win on Saturday, with January recruit Hendry cup tied after featuring for Dundee in the same competition earlier in the season.
However, the 22-year-old is now eligible to play against Roberto Mancini's side and he could be given his first ever European appearance as the Hoops look to secure an advantage on home soil ahead of next week's trip to Russia.
Celtic fans have called on Rodgers to throw 6ft 3in Hendry in to what is a baptism of fire against Zenit, which could see the Glasgow-born defender form one third of a three-man defence or indeed replace either Ajer or Simunovic.
One fan believes Hendry should start as Simunovic was "bullied" by Connor Salmon on the weekend.
Hendry must come in for jozo for zenit Chris, major error for their first and got bullied by sammon for the 2nd.— Proinsias (@JohnRocks1967) February 10, 2018
If Jack Hendry can play on Thursday then I’d play him with Ajer because they should be the only 2 CB’s at Celtic with any kind of future at the club.. Obviously reserving judgement on Compper.— Rob (@aarbee13) February 10, 2018
I’d throw Rogic in at the deep end if he’s remotely fit..— Rob (@aarbee13) February 12, 2018
I’d also start Lustig because his appalling form is marginally better than Jozo’s appalling form..
Sinclair toiling even if the stats say he isn’t... Musonda yet to deliver..
Hendry n Ajer can do no worse than DB n JS. pic.twitter.com/4I3P9se5yd
Is Hendry eligible? If so, then yes, I would start him. Other than that I think the team will be as defensive as BR can make it. Will be surprised if Charly starts in this one.— Pat© (@PatCattigan) February 12, 2018
DDV, Lustig, Ajer, Jozo/ Hendry, KT, Sinclair, Brown, Ntcham, McGregor, Forrest, Dembele.
On Thursday I'd go de vries. Back 3 of Hendry ajer simunovic. Forrest Tierney wingbacks. Brown kouassi Ntcham in the middle. Sinclair playing off dembele.— Axe The Act (@malkybhoy67) February 13, 2018
But I drive a taxi for a reason
Not for me I talked up in the who's the better btw him boyata always said jozo.— paul andrew martin (@18pablo88) February 13, 2018
He is all over the place now Another bomb scare now.
Hendry and ajer it has to be.
No, I'd throw Hendry in. Characters can be made in big ties - Pat McCluskey in the San Siro, David Marshall in the Nou Camp. Jozo remains a liability, Zenit are fast & direct in attack. Ajer & Hendry are the future— Slimshady (@Slimshady1961) February 13, 2018
