Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez was great at the weekend, but not so impressive last night.
Davinson Sanchez has won a lot of plaudits since becoming Tottenham Hotspur's record signing back in August for £42 million.
The Colombian has embraced the challenge of the Premier League and was outstanding against Arsenal at the weekend in a 1-0 win.
It did not help him playing alongside right-back Serge Aurier, who had a terrible game and gave away a penalty.
Sanchez was hesitant and mistimed challenges as experienced forward Gonzalo Higuain really tested the Tottenham defence.
The Argentine scored two but could have had four goals, missing once from the spot.
Tottenham's attackers bailed out their defenders and 21-year-old Sanchez will look to learn from the experience.
His early performances at Sours were helped by having Toby Alderweireld alongside him and the hope from Tottenham's perspective is that the Belgian will be fit for the second leg at Wembley.
Here is a look at how Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to Sanchez's performance...
How many challenges is Sánchez gonna bottle? Pathetic. Get him off for Rose go 3 at the back with Davies and Dier #COYS— Joe Walker (@joe3walker) February 13, 2018
Toby can't come back soon enough, Sanchez is looking his age these last few games. Think he needs a break, he's gonna give me a heart attack soon.— Robert Gray (@bobbyg83) February 13, 2018
On the plus side, we're at least keeping the ball better now #COYS
Another away game where Sánchez has looked suspect! I know he’s young and has a lot to learn but he looks shaky #COYS— Ben Haynes (@B_Haynes10) February 13, 2018
Sanchez and Aurier are scaring the crap out of me at the back today #COYS— Big 18 (@VillageTrundler) February 13, 2018
Honestly think I’m a better defender than Davinson Sanchez. And, in case you’ve not seen me play football, I’m not a great defender #coys— Laura Stevenson (@lcstevo) February 13, 2018
