Leeds fans on Twitter want Heckingbottom to drop Kemar Roofe

Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley at Ewood Park on April 8, 2017 in Blackburn, England.

Kemar Roofe has been well below par recently and his starting place is surely under threat as Leeds United prepare to host Bristol City at Elland Road.

With 11 goals in all competitions, Kemar Roofe is Leeds United’s top scorer this season.

Not that you would have guessed it based on the intense criticism the number seven has been subjected to on social media over the last few days. Yet, the Leeds fans might have a point.

Roofe may have outscored Samu Saiz, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and co in 2017/18 but he is stuck in a rut right now and, on current form, should not be anywhere near Paul Heckingbottom’s starting XI.

The 25-year-old, who has endured an inconsistent spell at Leeds following his £3 million move from Oxford United, has been well off the pace in recent games against Hull City, Cardiff and Sheffield United.

He was even hauled off at the break in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Brammal Lane, Heckingbottom’s first game at the helm. Leeds, despite going on to lose thanks to a Billy Sharp double, improved in the second half with Pablo Hernandez on in Roofe’s place.

And it seems that the Elland Road faithful have had enough.

Leeds welcome Bristol City to West Yorkshire this weekend and, in the eyes of many supporters, there is no chance that Roofe should be afforded his seventh league start of 2018.
