According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 11th February 2018; page 63), Wolves are eyeing up a summer move for Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling as they start preparing their squad for the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men appear to be well on their way to securing promotion to the top flight. Wolves are top of the Championship, 12 points clear of second place Aston Villa, while third place Derby County are one point further back with just 15 games remaining.

The Molineux outfit are already making plans for if they manage to secure promotion by the end of the season, and The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 11th February 2018; page 63) reports that Cherries stalwart Gosling is on their radar as they look for reinforcements.

The Sun on Sunday suggests that the former Everton trainee’s battling qualities and tireless nature appeal to the Championship leaders – though it remains to be seen how Eddie Howe will feel about a potential bid for one of his players.

Is it time for Wolves to consider summer targets?

If most Championship fans were asked who is going up this season, Wolves would surely be the response from almost all of them, and it would come with virtually no hesitation. They appear ready for the top flight, and missing out this year would be a huge shock. Only two sides have denied Manchester City victory at home in 90 minutes this season, and Wolves are one of them, with City seeing off Nuno’s men in a penalty shootout.

Nevertheless, with a gap of 13 points between themselves and third place, those who deal with matters on the pitch cannot allow themselves to get complacent as a few poor results could see the pressure applied slightly.

But there seems little harm in those who deal with recruitment getting prepared for a probable promotion. Wolves’ squad has been excellent, but adding some additional experience – potentially with the likes of Gosling – would be a wise move to ensure that their good work this year does not go to waste.
