Spurs hitman Harry Kane is one of the most highly-coveted players on the continent, with Real Madrid leading the race to sign him, according to Spanish media outlet Sport.
Tottenham will surely do all they can to keep hold of the 24-year-old, but if they find it impossible to resist Madrid's advances, they will have to insure that they have an adequate replacement lined up.
According to Italian media outlet Corrire dello Sport, the north London outfit have identified Inter Milan superstar Mauro Icardi as the perfect candidate to replace Kane, if he does in fact end up leaving in the summer.
Corriere dello Sport claim that the 24-year-old has a €110 million (£98.7 million) release clause inserted into his current contract with Inter, but that would not be a problem for Tottenham, considering the fact that Kane would command at least £200 million.
Icardi is one of the continent's best strikers, and he has been in fine form this season, scoring 18 goals in 22 Serie A appearances thus far.
The Argentina international is the same age as Kane, and would be a superb addition to Mauricio Pochettino's side, but he possesses different qualities to the England international.
Icardi is arguably more technically gifted than the Spurs star and possesses more pace. He isn't as prolific as Kane, however, although he is no slouch in front of goal.
Although Tottenham fans will be desperate for their club to keep hold of their star man, they will surely be pleased to see Icardi's name mentioned as a potential replacement for the Englishman.
