Sunderland fans have reacted ruthlessly, after Chris Coleman confirmed that Robbin Ruiter is set to be out for the next three months.

Ruiter has damaged his hand in training, and is set to miss nearly the entirety of the new campaign.

While most players would have received sympathy, Sunderland fans were pleased that the German would no longer be able to be picked.

Ruiter has been hugely error prone since arriving at the Stadium of Light last summer, and is certainly not a popular figure.

And the reaction to the goalkeeper’s injury, shows just how frustrated Sunderland fans have become with him.

Sunderland did manage to bring in a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window, with Lee Camp coming in on loan, so Ruiter was only ever likely to be a reserve choice for the remainder of the campaign anyway.

The Black Cats are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Bristol City, looking to pull off a shock victory.
