Newcastle United fans on social networking site Twitter want manager Rafael Benitez to include Leicester City-owned Islam Slimani in the starting lineup against Manchester United this weekend.
The Magpies will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
Slimani, who joined Newcastle on loan from Premier League rivals Leicester in the January transfer window, has trained with the Magpies’ first team and could feature against the Red Devils.
The 29-year-old Algeria international striker, who has scored 27 goals in 56 matches for his country so far in his career, has recovered from his thigh injury, and Newcastle fans want him to start against United and are also excited at the prospect of seeing the former Sporting Lisbon star in action.
Agree they all 3 need to start & kenedy & slimani are better than what we have but the GK who knows? We all thought Sels was going to be the answer but he looked shaky from the start. I would still put the new lad in mind let’s hope he gets a good start and a bit of confidence— Dan Willan (@DanWillan84) February 8, 2018
Really hope Slimani has a good game on Sunday, granted he starts.— NUFC Update (@NUFC_Update) February 8, 2018
Let’s hope Diame and Kenedy can keep up their good form as well!
It’ll be a tough game that we have to be prepared to lose, but we’ll fight to stay in it! #htwl #nufc
Islam Slimani will start on sunday, score a brace and fire us to safety https://t.co/YDtLx4oVah— Jay (@NufcJay18) February 8, 2018
Got a feeling Rafa will flood the midfield on Sunday with his favoured 4-2-3-1.Diame and Hayden as DM. Kennedy, Shelvey and Ritchie in the "3" ..Joselu or Slimani up front...#NUFC— MichaelMM (@mickmar29) February 8, 2018
I’d go Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett, Diame, Merino, Kenedy, Ritchie, Murphy, Slimani against Man United. Pace, work rate, and good ball players. Ritchie as #10.— Liam Dabbs (@ldabbs89) February 8, 2018
Would be nice— David H (@david_heppell63) February 8, 2018
Newcastle are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Magpies have struggled for goals this season, and the St. James’ Park faithful will hope that Slimani hits the ground running and starts banging in the goals rightaway.
