Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente blew a big chance to impress.
Fernando Llorente was awful in the away fixture against Newport, and the only consolation was that he would get a shot at redemption and surely would not be as bad?
Unfortunately last night he blew his opportunity to redeem himself, and managed to further damage his reputation in the process.
Llorente missed two easy second half chances when put through on goal, failing to hit the target with either.
After missing the second, the under pressure Spaniard looked utterly miserable and frustrated with himself.
Even after the game Llorente looked downbeat, perhaps wondering when his next chance as a starter may come.
The former Spain international striker looks a shell of the player who scored 15 goals last season for Swansea City and is having trouble stepping in irregularly and producing at a high level.
It is a shame because at the weekend he made a vital contribution as a substitute against Liverpool, winning a header which led to Spurs going onto winning a penalty to seal an equaliser.
He really needed a big performance against Newport, and has some serious making up to do from the bench when he next gets a chance.
If he scores against Arsenal at the weekend, all will quickly be forgiven.
