Chelsea want West Ham loanee Joe Hart but surely the Hammers won't battle for the Manchester City goalkeeper's signature?

Chelsea are getting ready to try and sign Joe Hart from Manchester City if Thibaut Courtois makes a move to Real Madrid, according to the Sun.

Courtois is out of contract in 2019 and while the Blues are prepared to make the Belgian the highest paid goalkeeper in the world with wages of around £200,000-a-week in order to extend that, there are still fears a switch to Madrid could happen.

In that scenario the West London outfit will move to sign Hart as a replacement, who will also enter the final year of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium this summer and is ready to leave having been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Pep Guardiola.

Currently on loan at West Ham United, on the face of it many might think the Hammers would be interested in making the England international's temporary switch permanent, but then things haven't really gone to plan at the London Stadium.

After being dropped from the starting XI against City on December 3 because he could not play against his parent club, Hart has not returned between the posts in the Premier League since with Adrian preferred, instead limited solely to cup outings.

That was because the 30-year-old was widely criticised for his performances for West Ham during the first half of the season, which makes it all the more curious he is wanted at Stamford Bridge.

Either way, the East Londoners surely won't be putting up a fight?
