Notts County earned their FA Cup replay against Swansea City with a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup fourth round.
When it was announced the replay would be televised, County chairman Alan Hardy reacted with delight.
Get in! Now the whole nation can watch what should be a belter!! https://t.co/PtdoMYSXb1— Alan Hardy (@Bigalanh5) January 29, 2018
Unfortunately for Notts County the replay went worse than they could have imagined.
Carlos Carvalhal's Swansea ran riot, winning 8-1 after going three goals up in the opening half an hour.
Their capitulation was greeted with amusement by fans of rivals Nottingham Forest, who managed to beat Arsenal in the third round, before losing to Hull in the fourth.
Fans began replaying to Hardy's message posted days earlier, crowing about the heavy defeat.
Definitely a belting— Andrew Sheard (@PantherAS90) February 6, 2018

The result was certainly not what County were hoping for but simply forcing the replay was an achievement in itself for the League Two side.
Losing 8-1 was not in Notts County's plans but this year's FA Cup run has been better than in recent years.
They last reached the fourth round in 2011/12, and getting a televised replay will have been a big financial boost, even if they put on the wrong type of show.
