Leeds United are yet again searching for a new manager after sacking Thomas Christiansen on Sunday evening – and Jaap Stam is an early name in the frame.
Christiansen only lasted eight months at Elland Road following his summer appointment, leaving Elland Road after Saturday's 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Cardiff City.
The Spaniard leaves with a 43% win rate, and Andrea Radrizzani will now begin the search for a replacement, with a number of names already suggested for the job.
Leeds wanted to land Stam over the summer before going for Christiansen, but with claims that Stam is about to be sacked by Reading, the Whites may be back in for the Dutchman.
Stam was highly thought of last season having guided Reading to the Championship play-off final, but his Royals side sit just six points clear of the relegation zone this term – and Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Millwall could be his final game in charge.
With claims that Stam could be in line for the Leeds job, Reading fans took to Twitter to offer their reactions, with few fighting for him to stay at the Madejski Stadium.
Leeds fans are unlikely to be keen on an ex-Manchester United player landing the job, but Reading fans were queueing up to drive Stam to Elland Road, suggesting that getting compensation for him from Leeds would be a miracle.
So baffled how stam is still in job! Hopefully Leeds take him, might be the only way he leaves. This club is being mis managed at the highest level. I wouldn’t even trust them to appoint a new manager at this rate! #readingfc— Daniel Roy Mackay (@DanielRoyMackay) February 4, 2018
