Liverpool fans were left furious with Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela.
Liverpool fans are calling for Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela to cop a ban from the FA for diving.
Lamela went down in injury time inside the Liverpool penalty area under challenge from Virgil van Dijk and a spot-kick was given which allowed Spurs to level the game at 2-2.
Replays showed that Van Dijk barely touched Lamela, and fans are hoping the FA's new retrospective diving rules could come into play.
So far this season Everton forward Oumar Niasse and West Ham attacker Manuel Lanzini have both been given suspensions for diving.
A ban for Lamela would be interesting as it would directly imply their match officials made a mistake in a key game.
Lamela is not the only Spurs player under scrutiny from Reds fans, with some going a step further and calling for Harry Kane to be investigated for his part in winning an earlier penalty, which he went onto miss. He made no mistake the second time.
During the game Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli was given a yellow card for diving.
Reds supporters were furious with Lamela in particular and are demanding the FA take action.
Ban Lamela for the rest of the season. https://t.co/Bznl658zwv— Caleb Chambers (@BasedChach) February 4, 2018
The right thing to for the FA is to ban both Kane and Lamela for deceiving the ref. After that ban Moss for poor performance... Total disgrace by the officials #LIVTOT— Ntando Gwacela (@gwacela_ntando) February 4, 2018
If Lamela doesn’t get a ban and Moss and his team don’t get sent to league 2, that will go down as the biggest robbery in Klopp’s reign. Repercussions needed.— Demetri (@DemetriSmith_) February 4, 2018
@FA Firstly demote that awful ref and linesman. Secondly, ban Lamela retrospectively for a blatant dive - it’s cheating to change the outcome of a critical game - show some integrity and a spine! https://t.co/bP0gyRjyW2— John Dickinson (@JCDizzle) February 4, 2018
If Lamela doesn't get a ban for diving its a joke! It was never a penalty! #LIVTOT— Mick Sedgwick (@MikeSedg7) February 4, 2018
If Lamela isn't a shout for a retrospective diving ban then there's no point in then even existing.— Lachlan (@crosLFC) February 4, 2018
