Forest traded Jamie Ward for Tomlin with Cardiff, with the attacking pair swapping clubs on loan.
And Forest fans believe that they have got the better of the deal, by bringing Tomlin to the City Ground.
Still cant believe we have swapped jamie ward for lee tomlin! A 3 mill purchase last summer! 10x the player ward is! What on earth were cardiff thinking! Had there pants down #nffc— Dean Boden (@DnoMaz9) February 1, 2018
#nffc I dont recall which of his clubs he was at but i do recall Lee Tomlin destroying us last time he played at the CG. Stood out because physically he looked like a pub player. This fella can play— Stephen (@munich2madrid) February 1, 2018
If Karanka can get him playing to his potential again, Lee Tomlin is going to be the best deadline day signing- and that's saying something. Great business from #nffc shame we're too far off the playoffs.— ForestBoffin (@ForestBoffin) February 1, 2018
Have always rated Tomlin. Unconventional but always looks to pose a threat. Excited to see what he can do for us. Good to shift Ward off the books too. Offers bugger all #nffc— Andrew Brookes (@andrewbrookes84) January 31, 2018
Ward has barely featured for Forest this season, so he should not be a big miss for Aitor Karanka’s side.
Tomlin could transform Forest’s attack, though, given his natural ability.
The 29-year-old has not fitted in at Cardiff, but he has previously been a stand out talent at Championship level.
When focused, Tomlin is one of the most dangerous attackers outside the Premier League, and he should add a huge amount of creativity to Forest’s forward line.
Tomlin was one of a number of signings which Forest made on deadline day, with Karanka making some big improvements to his squad at the City Ground.
Forest are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
