The Wolves faithful have been out in force on Twitter over the last 12 hours, following the confirmation that the Benik Afobe saga would end with a loan move back to Molineux.

While it is something that has been considered for the better part of six months, few people could have imagined that this potential transfer would come down to the wire quite like it did. Either way, the club would likely have been in a strong position with the squad they had, but a true Championship striker with the ability to turn small chances into goals was just too appealing to pass up.

Also, when you consider that Benik Afobe would be a returning hero after his exploits at Molineux a few seasons back, this one was a no-brainer.

A select handful of supporters may not have forgiven Afobe for abandoning ship in search of Premier League success, but as long as he can find his footing back in the second tier relatively quickly, their reservations will likely fall by the wayside.

The overall strength of Wanderers’ squad was always going to give them a great chance at gaining promotion, and now that Afobe is back on the books, other clubs are already pencilling them in as champions.

However, Wolves fans themselves will not be too quick to plan the parade route, with several past failures from years gone by meaning that they won’t be happy until the final whistle has blown on the final day.

For now, though, it is a time for celebration, with the following tweets showcasing the best reactions from Wolves fans throughout the night and early morning:
