The summer Sheffield United recruit was linked with a move to Shrewsbury last week.
Sky Sports reported last week that Shrewsbury had offered £175,000 for Thomas, although the Shropshire Star describes that as 'inaccurate' - adding it is 'unlikely' the League One side will part with that kind of money.
Nevertheless, it is claimed the Shrews still hope to see off competition the former Hartlepool United player, who only moved to Sheffield United last summer and is said to be keen on a move to Paul Hurst's Town.
Thomas has made just three appearances for the Blades - with only one of those coming in the Championship. Impressively, though, the 23-year-old has scored a goal in each of his cup outings this season.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has previously discussed the possibility of Thomas leaving Bramall Lane this month, albeit on loan.
And it remains to be seen whether United would allow the Teessider to depart on a permanent basis, however, they may be more inclined to do so after this month's capture of Charlton Athletic winger Ricky Holmes.
Will Thomas move to Shrewsbury ahead of Wednesday night's deadline?
