Anton Walkes returned to Tottenham at the end of October after a season in the MLS.
The News (Portsmouth) claims Pompey are closing in on a loan move for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Anton Walkes in a deal that will see him move down south until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, who is predominantly a right-back but can also play in central defence and in holding midfield, has been with MLS side Atlanta United for much of 2017.
He made 22 MLS appearances for the newly-founded Americans, before returning to north London at the end of October in which he was given rest and a pre-season before returning to action this month with Spurs' Under-23 side.
Walkes, who has captained Spurs' second string on numerous occasions in the past, is now set for a taste of first-team football in England with League One side Portsmouth who remain in the hunt for a play-off place.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to rate the 6ft 2in Tottenham ace highly and even game him his first-team debut last season in the 5-0 win over Gillingham in the Carabao Cup - coming on in a 10-minute cameo role.
Walkes will look to show just what he is capable of at Portsmouth, with only 18 months remaining on his current contract in north London. He could make his first appearance against Doncaster at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.
