Shrewsbury Town have made a bid in the region of £175,000 for Sheffield United's Nathan Thomas, according to Sky Sports [live blog entry 12:36].

Impressively, the 23-year-old has scored a goal in each of his cup outings this season - although manager Chris Wilder has previously discussed the possibility of him leaving Bramall Lane this month, albeit on loan.

It remains to be seen whether Sheffield United would allow Thomas to depart on a permanent basis, however, they may be more inclined to do so after last week's capture of Charlton Athletic winger Ricky Holmes.

Shrewsbury, who are managed by ex-Rotherham United defender Paul Hurst, are currently going strong in League One and find themselves level on points with second-placed Blackburn Rovers.

A move to New Meadow may therefore appeal to Thomas, if granted by Sheffield United.

Should the Blades accept Shrewsbury's alleged Thomas bid?
