The 21-year-old midfielder, who has a £14 million buyout clause at Betis, dazzled in spite of the heavy defeat and the West Ham manager is unlikely to have left unimpressed.
Moyes has repeatedly claimed this month that he is in the market for a midfielder, but one with Premier League experience so it remains to be seen how accurate the speculation is.
Nevertheless, West Ham fans are certainly on board with the prospect of bringing him to London before the transfer window shuts.
Fabián Ruiz would be an incredible signing going to be a great player... let alone if we got Joao Mario in too. But let’s not forget, this is West Ham and it will all go wrong somewhere.— Spikey (@jamiespikehume) January 22, 2018
Watched the game , fabian ruiz looked the better player to me ,— Bob Clark (@bobclark56) January 22, 2018
Yeah. Looks decent tbf— robert smith (@darobsta08) January 21, 2018
He looked good and only 21, very “Moyesque” style of player tall and strong with a good pass.— WHUFC Bulletin (@whufcbulletin) January 22, 2018
Think he's destined for better things than west ham tbh— timCOYI (@tim1967td) January 22, 2018
On last nights performance, especially first half, I’d say go get him. £15m looks a steal— robert smith (@darobsta08) January 22, 2018
Unfortunately for the Hammers, they could face competition for his signature and Sunday's performance is unlikely to have dissuaded any would-be suitors from retaining an interest.
According to Marca, Tottenham Hotspur are also keen, which is bad news for West Ham because if Spurs make a move then it'll be very hard for Ruiz to say no.
He is contracted to the Spanish club until 2020.
