Tottenham Hotspur lost further ground on teams above them as they could only draw 1-1 at Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
Wins for Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday put the pressure on Spurs to claim all three points and move level with Liverpool ahead of their game with Swansea, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men couldn’t grab the win.
Southampton took the lead early on as Ryan Bertrand’s cross was diverted into his own net by Davinson Sanchez, only for Harry Kane to head home an equaliser from Ben Davies’ corner.

Tottenham attempted to push for a winner but couldn’t find one, only really ramping up the pressure in the final stages of the game after a fairly tepid performance on the South Coast.
A number of Spurs players struggled to hit top gear, with both Dele Alli and Son Heung-min failing to hit recent heights, but midfielder Mousa Dembele particularly frustrated many fans.
The Belgian midfielder has endured a disappointing season due to form and fitness, but after impressing against Everton last weekend, many were hoping that he would be back to his best.

Unfortunately though, Dembele struggled against Southampton, committing a host of fouls whilst looking a shadow of his former self, leading many Tottenham fans to take to Twitter to suggest that he is ‘finished’ and ‘past it’.
The 30-year-old disappointed many fans, who want to see Dembele sold on this summer, urging Pochettino to move him on or drop him for Victor Wanyama or Harry Winks at the very least as fans look to the future.
