Gillingham have agreed a deal to sign Bury midfielder Callum Reilly on loan until the end of the season, HITC Sport understands.

Reilly only joined Bury last summer on a free transfer from Burton, but he is set to be on the move again to League One rivals Gillingham.

The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Bury since his arrival at the club, but they are willing to let him move on.

Reilly came through the youth system at Birmingham City before joining Burton Albion in 2015, and he helped the club win promotion to the Championship in the 2015/16 season.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry City after finding his first-team chances limited at Burton and he was released last summer.

Reilly was snapped up for Bury by former boss Lee Clark, but since his departure he has been in and out of the team.

A number of clubs were monitoring Reilly's situation at Gigg Lane, but Gillingham have moved quickly to bring him to Priestfield.

Gills boss Steve Lovell is keen to bolster his midfield options and he sees Reilly as a valuable addition to his plans as they look to steer clear of a relegation fight in League One.
