Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur have left Celtic choking on their dust with Besiktas’s Dusko Tosic heading for England.

Celtic’s attempts to reinforce their back line this month reportedly led them to Serbian international Dusko Tosic.
Turkish publication Aksam stated this week that the Scottish Premiership champions had made a bid of £2.5 million for the defender only for Besiktas to demand £1 million more for the 32-year-old.
Tosic has been superb since signing for Besiktas two years ago. He helped the club to successive Super Lig titles and starred as the Istanbul-based side cruised through this season’s Champions League group stage, forming a solid partnership with former Real Madrid man Pepe.

But just 24 hours after Celtic attempted to step up their pursuit, it seems that Tosic is set to move to England instead.
Because Gunes states that Besiktas president Fikret Orman has travelled to London to negotiate the sale of Tosic. It is understood that Tottenham Hotspur, who have been linked for a number of weeks, are set to discuss a deal.
But Crystal Palace, who have not been linked with Tosic until now, could gatecrash Spurs’ deal. It is understood that Roy Hodgson’s side are also set to open talks with Besiktas about signing the versatile defender, who will cost around £3.5 million.

Palace have been in the market for a new defender all throughout this window with Scott Dann ruled out for the rest of the season.
With left-back Jeffrey Schlupp also set for an extended period on the sidelines, and Pape Souare seemingly heading for Newcastle United, Tosic’s ability to play in a variety of defensive positions is perhaps the key reason for Palace’s sudden interest.
