Stoke City suffered a 3-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night under the watchful eye of new manager Paul Lambert from the stands - and fans have applauded new signing Moritz Bauer's efforts.
Former Norwich City and Aston Villa manager Lambert agreed to succeed Mark Hughes on Monday, but it was too late for him to take control of the side to face Jose Mourinho's United.
Antonio Valencia opened the scoring with an excellent curling effort, before Anthony Martial produced a swerving strike of his own - both from Paul Pogba assists. Romelu Lukaku then got his name on the scoresheet, powering home from close range.
Stoke were unlucky to lose by such a margin and had chances in the first half through Stephen Ireland, Xherdan Shaqiri and Eric Choupo-Moting, but failed to convert. Plenty of positives, though, for Lambert.
But one of the main positives from Stoke's performance will have been the display of Bauer, just a week after the 25-year-old joined the Staffordshire-based club for a fee of £5million from Russian giants Rubin Kazan.
Stoke City fans took to Twitter to praise Bauer for his performance, with a number of direct runs and a degree of pace two stand-out traits of his game. One fan described him as a "future fans favourite".

Bauer tired towards end but put one hell of a shift in. Needs time to adjust to intensity of PL but should do so with ease. Would like to see him at RM in front of Edwards at RB #SCFC— Jacob (@highlordofmusic) January 15, 2018
