Swansea have made a move for Atletico Madrid’s Nicolas Gaitan so if Everton are genuinely interested they must make a move soon.

If Everton are serious about signing Atletico Madrid’s Nicolas Gaitan in the January transfer window then they will need to make a decision quickly.

That is because Wales Online reports that Swansea City have made an approach to sign Gaitan alongside his Atlei teammate Kevin Gameiro.

A bid upwards of £15m is thought to be enough to land the Argentine, which in today’s inflated market in football looks to be a very reasonable price for a player who has won league titles in his native Argentina and Portugal and has significant experience in the Champions League.

Gaitan’s reputation, despite his struggles in the Spanish capital, would make a switch to the Swans all the more surprising – with Carlos Carvalhal’s men currently bottom of the Premier League table.

The Toffees would surely be a more attractive prospect for the 29-year-old as although they have had their own problems in the English top flight this season, they have a far more impressive recent history in the competition and no longer look in danger of relegation.

However, they have also not turned their interest in Gaitan into anything concrete as yet, with the Mirror reporting that a £20m deal for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is the priority at the moment.
