West Brom fans have been taking to Twitter to comment on Craig Dawson's performance as the Baggies ended their incredibly long wait for a Premier League win on Saturday.

Alan Pardew's men went into the clash with Brighton off the back of their first win in any competition since August as they beat Exeter City in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend. Nevertheless, they would have surely put that victory to their back of their minds given the difference in opposition.

But it took just four minutes for The Hawthorns to start rocking as Jonny Evans opened the scoring from a Matt Phillips corner before Dawson doubled the Baggies' lead 10 minutes into the second-half with a header of his own.

The win does not lift Pardew's men out of the bottom three in the Premier League, but it does end a run of 20 top flight games without a victory and does see them move to within touching distance of the teams immediately above the drop zone.

A number of players were praised on social media, but it was perhaps Dawson's display that attracted the most plaudits from the long-suffering Baggies fans.

The 27-year-old has been excellent since returning from injury and made an impact at both ends of the pitch against the Seagulls, scoring one and making one particularly brilliant block to deny Lewis Dunk. And the fans could not praise the defender high enough.

Here is the best of the reaction...
