Everton were beaten 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, as their defence was exposed time after time.

And Allardyce has claimed that he will go back to basis with his approach in future weeks.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “Maybe I have a bit of responsibility by playing too much attacking-minded players and not as many defending-minded players.

“I should have got back to being a bit more boring and a bit less adventurous.”

However, Everton fans are bemused about how defensive Allardyce plans to play, as they already feel he has shown a lack of attacking intent.

Everton have struggled to have shots on target recently, yet alone actually find the back of the net.

Everton are now winless in their last six matches across all competitions, which has caused further frustration around Goodison Park.

The Toffees are currently in ninth place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against struggling West Bromwich Albion.
