Should Aston Villa sell Andre Green to Tottenham to fund Leonardo Ulloa deal?

Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Andre Green from Aston Villa and the Championship side may be tempted to listen to offers.

Aston Villa have sadly grown used to seeing their star players snapped up in recent years. And as long as the club remains mired in the Championship, the sharks of the Premier League will be smelling blood.

According to The Sun this week, Brighton are preparing a £3 million bid for teenage striker Keinan Davis while the paper also claimed that highly-rated winger Andre Green is on the radar of both Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.

It is understood that Spurs have tracked Green for some time and tried to sign him two years ago. Intelligent, technical and not to mention homegrown, the 19-year-old is exactly the sort of player who tends to thrive under Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The report states that Villa would be loath to let him go, although offers of £10 million may be tempting for a side who cannot bring in permanent reinforcements due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

The Telegraph reports that Villa are desperate to bring Leonardo Ulloa to the Midlands from Leicester City this month with manager Steve Bruce having failed to sign him in the last two transfer windows.

But Villa can only afford to loan Ulloa for the rest of the season and Leicester have nothing to gain from letting a 31-year-old leave on a temporary basis.

So Villa might find themselves in a difficult situation, where they need to sell arguably their most exciting academy graduate and a star of the future for a player who could vastly improve them in the present.

Villa need a goal-scorer to aid their promotion push and Ulloa, who scored at a reliable rate at this level for Brighton, could be the final piece of the jigsaw. But will they sell their future to improve their immediate promotion prospects?
