Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Mile Jedinak is a doubt for their match against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Jedinak missed out on featuring for Villa in their FA Cup match against Peterborough United last weekend, and is still struggling.

And Bruce admits that he is waiting to see whether the Australian international will make it back to full fitness in time for the weekend.

“I’m waiting still on Jedinak and unfortunately John Terry rolled his ankle on Wednesday and he’s a doubt as well," Bruce explained.

“He’s just got over his injury and unfortunately he’s rolled his ankle slightly and we’ll see how he is.

“Scott Hogan is fine. He’s trained all week.

“Andre, we decided to get another hour under his belt having been out for so long. We thought it’d be good for him.

“We played him last night, and he’s got through it, which is good.”

If Jedinak is fit to play against Forest, it is likely that the 33-year-old will be selected to start.

Bruce gave Villa’s fringe players a chance to impress last weekend, but they failed to take their opportunity and lost 3-1 against League One side Peterborough in the FA Cup.

Villa were outplayed for large portions of the match, and Bruce is now likely to revert to his more familiar line-up against Forest.

If Villa can pick up a win against Aitor Karanka’s new side, then they could move up as high as third place in the Championship table.
