Leeds United were linked with German striker Marvin Duksch earlier this season, with The Mail reporting the Whites had sent scouts to watch him in action.

Duksch is top scorer for Bundesliga 2 side Holstein Kiel, with 11 goals in 20 games this season.

Kiel are currently second in the German top flight, but fear they will struggle to sign Duksch even if they win promotion.

German news outlet NDR report Kiel believe their finances will prevent them signing Duksch amid competition from teams in his homeland and in England.

Andrea Radrizzani, Owner of Leeds United (3L) looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Bristol City and Leeds United at Ashton Gate on October 21, 2017 in Bristol, England.

Leeds would not be able to do a deal before the summer due to his loan agreement with St Pauli.

Kiel were the clear frontrunners to sign Duksch permanently but their worries could alert Leeds' interest.

With Pierre-Michel Lasogga set to return to Hamburg at the end of the season, Leeds will need a replacement, and moving for Duksch could be a clever move, providing he can maintain his impressive form.
