HITC Sport understands Lincoln City are set to re-sign former star.
Frecklington started his career at Lincoln, coming through the youth ranks at his hometown club before leaving for Peterborough United in 2009.
The attacking midfielder made over 130 appearances, scoring 21 goals in his first spell at Lincoln and he remains a big fans' favourite with the Imps fans.
Frecklington has established himself as a key player in the Rotherham side since joining from Peterborough in January 2013 after an initial successful loan spell.
The 32-year-old has scored four goals in 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season but, with Frecklington enterting the final six months of his contract at Rotherham, they have reluctantly agreed to listen to offers for him rather than risk allowing him to leave on a free transfer this summer.
A number of clubs have shown an interest in Frecklington, but Lincoln have moved quickly to lure him back to his first club
Imps boss Danny Cowley sees the player's quality and experience as improving his current squad, as they look to maintain their push for promotion from League Two.
