Report: Rafael Benitez has the freedom to reject any offers at Newcastle United

Newcastle United are under no pressure to sell key players in January.

According to a report in the Shields Gazette, Rafael Benitez is under no pressure to sell any player he does not want to at Newcastle United.

Benitez may not have the funds required to do as much business as he was hoping, as Amanda Staveley’s takeover bid has not gone through.

However, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is not likely to accept any offers for Benitez’s key players.

Jonjo Shelvey has been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park, but he is now unlikely to leave.

And Newcastle are not under pressure to sell any other of their key stars this season.

There have been a number of Newcastle players who have impressed since promotion to the Premier League, but Benitez has the freedom to reject any offers he does not feel are worthwhile for the club.

Newcastle are still hoping to offload some of their fringe players, as they look to raise funds.

The Magpies realise there is a need for an injection of quality, with Benitez’s side still locked in a battle against the drop.
